Plustek OpticBook 3600 Compact Scanner

Plustek has today launched the OpticBook 3600 Plus and OpticBook 3600 Corporate edition scanners.

With Plustek’s proprietary SEE technology, the OpticBook 3600 promises perfectly scanned images of books or magazines without the dark book spine, shadows or text distortions that appear with normal scanners.

Each scanner comes with OCR software to automatically create PDF files and the Corporate version is also bundled with ReadIris Corporate Edition software and Plustek’s DigiBook for an advanced set of features.

With Plustek’s OpticBook 3600 Plus, the process of converting a scan to a PDF should be simple as it does not require additional software. You can automatically generate all scanned files to PDF and merge to a single file or separate sheet. Scanned items are automatically stored as PDF documents and can be easily retrieved or e-mailed.

The Corporate edition can also convert a scan to a PDF quickly and easily. Additionally, it includes Plustek’s DigiBook software that converts printed material into searchable PDF files. The software enables you to search an entire file for occurrences of a word or phrase.

The OpticBook 3600 Corporate also comes with Readiris Pro 10 Corporate Edition which is text recognition software that is an ideal solution for professional users who need to convert volumes of documents, PDFs, as well as business cards into electronic documents. It can also recognise up to five different languages on the same document.

Both OpticBook 3600 versions achieve clean scans without the need for a large, expensive overhead scanner or complicated image-editing software, claims the company. They provide seven one-touch buttons designed to make scanning easy and efficient.

Offering high-speed scanning ¬a 250-page book can be completed in less than an hour, claims Plustek. The OpticBook 3600 provides 48-bit colour depth and 1200ppi optical resolution. Page images can also be automatically rotated as pages are continuously scanned and then saved in the correct order.

Both products are available now from Centerprise, Microlink PC and Megapixel. The OpticBook 3600 Plus and the OpticBook 3600 Corporate are priced at £179 and £289, respectively.
