Konica Minolta's Next-Gen Polymerised Toner

Konica Minolta Printing Solutions Europe has introduced its next-generation polymerised toner, Simitri HD.

A pioneer in the development of polymerised toner, Konica Minolta claims it revolutionises toner technology with the launch of its high definition toner - boasting greater versatility, enhanced image output and an environmentally friendly production process.

Thanks to the fine and uniform shape of its toner particles, Simitri HD can allegedly print digital images with the finest of gradients, providing ‘unsurpassed’ print quality compared to existing methods using pulverised toner. This also means that less toner is needed than before, making Simitri HD polymerised toner cost effective.

Improved half tones provide more naturals prints for documents ranging from photographs to illustrations. Combined with the Konica Minolta colour management technology, an advanced colour matching system that includes PANTONE tables to give consistent and accurate colour, the new Simitri HD polymerised toner offers the highest quality image output, claims the company.

"Konica Minolta's extensive research and development in high definition toner and improvements in the capabilities of its polymerised toner, strengthens its position as leading toner manufacturer. With the introduction of Simitri HD polymerised toner, Konica Minolta has brought the quality and versatility of in-house printing to a whole new level, which greatly reduces the need for costly outsourced printing," said Hiroyuki Masuda, Manager Product Marketing EMEA.

"Due to its innovative technology, the quality and durability of documentation printed in the office becomes of offset quality. Also, Simitri HD polymerised toner supports a wider range of media which gives businesses the increased flexibility and cost-effectiveness of printing commercial materials on-demand."

Simitri HD provides durable print quality that challenges offset printing. Through its unique ability to strengthen the bond of colour pigment particles, Simitri HD polymerised toner reduces the effect of chemical change and can withstand extended exposure to UV light, which dramatically improves fade resistance. A broader colour gamut gives a smooth dispersion of colour pigments. This enables a higher reproduction quality due to the wider range of colours available. Furthermore, Simitri HD polymerised toner provides the additional freedom of overprinting on pre-printed documents.

Compared to the previous version, Simitri HD polymerised toner operates at a much lower temperature. This not only saves up to 15% more energy, but should also greatly reduces paper curling, a known cause of paper jams. Furthermore, it supports a wide variety of media from glossy to thick stock.

Due to its technologically advanced manufacturing process, Simitri HD polymerised toner emits 40% less CO2, NOx, and SOx than conventional pulverised toners. The new Simitri HD polymerised toner cartridges are included in the Clean Planet Program, the Konica Minolta return cartridge recycling program that encourages environmental conservation. As a result of the program, 99% of the cartridge mass is recycled.

Simitri HD polymerised toner will be available to use in future Konica Minolta colour laser printers. For more information on Simitri HD polymerised toner, visit http://printer.konicaminolta.eu/simitrihd/.
