IBM has today announced five new workgroup printers designed to reduce output costs, increase productivity, and help improve document security. The laser printers are an alternative to inkjet printing and promise versatile and cost-effective support.
Several new members of the Infoprint 1000 family of laser printers also offer improved security features that can integrate with existing networks to help increase document confidentiality and device security.
Confidential access to sensitive documents can be implemented through new secure print features that can 'hold' the document on the device until the end user enters a personal identification number (PIN). Higher levels of security can also be obtained through the Infoprint family's optional authentication and encryption features.
IBM's newest lines of monochrome and colour workgroup solutions include the Infoprint 1512,Infoprint Color 1534, Infoprint 1532 Express and Infoprint 1552, and Infoprint 1572. With a small footprint, the Infoprint 1512 is designed to deliver the functions needed by small businesses and small groups of employees. A relatively fast monochrome print speed of up to 28ppm (pages per minute) should help to get the job done faster, on demand.
The Infoprint Color 1534 supports colour. The printer includes an operator panel and a standard ImageQuick function that allows forms and critical documents to be stored on a Web site or server and then printed when needed, on demand. With wireless connectivity, printers can be placed where they're needed and moved to new locations without the hassle of installing new cables.
The Infoprint 1532 Express and Infoprint 1552 are medium-volume, monochrome laser printers capable of print speeds up to 35- and 45ppm, respectively. Capabilities include confidential PIN printing, authentication and encryption for network environments. The printers are also wireless-capable, to help you speed installation into existing networks. Finally, the Infoprint 1572 is another high-volume, network-configured monochrome laser printer that offers print speeds up to 50ppm, as well as flexible media solutions and finishing options.
