BenQ has introduced the MP720p, a portable digital projector designed for education and business applications. The MP720p offers a relatively strong combination of brightness and versatile connectivity via an optional wireless feature that should be ideal for open environments such as classrooms and conference rooms.
The MP720ps optional wireless function enables a cable-free connection. You can switch from one presenter to another without the hassle of swapping VGA cables from system to system, and the wireless feature supports all three high-speed wireless protocols (802.11a/b/g) for optimum flexibility when connecting to a network.
Weighing only 2.9kg and featuring XGA native resolution of 1024x768 pixels, a brightness of 2500 ANSI lumens and a 2000:1 contrast ratio, the MP720ps above-par feature set looks like a good balance between performance and value. Video inputs include NTSC, PAL, SECAM, and HDTV (480p, 576p, 720p, and 1080i).
For graphics enthusiasts who require the best colour quality, the MP720ps colour-matching technology features BenQs proprietary Golden Ratio Color Wheel that provides high-grade colour reproduction, claims the company.
Using the Golden Ratio Color Wheel, the CP120 promises more natural flesh tones by delivering better colour saturation on red and blue than standard RGB without sacrificing green. This feature brings a rich true-colour picture to all video formats, especially DVD, high-definition television or sporting event, says BenQ.
The MP720p also features a new technology for projectors: sRGB (Standard Red Green Blue). Defined by Microsoft and HP, sRGB creates colour-matching between applications and hardware devices, such as monitors, scanners, printers and digital cameras to ensure that whatever you see on your computer screen will be exactly the same as what they will get from their projector.
Unlike other projectors, sRGB ensures that you do not get a greenish colour even if your prepared their presentation with a yellow background.
The MP720p provides an auto-off function (5, 10, 15, 20 minutes.) and an ultra-long lamp life of up to 5000 hours in economic mode for enhanced projector life and overall viewing time. To effectively double the viewing time, you receive an additional free lamp with the purchase of the MP720p (worth $399).
The MP720p is currently available with an estimated MSRP of $1299 (£731) and can be purchased through authorized BenQ distribution channels.
