Dell Performance LCD Monitors

Dell’s latest flat panels promise great performance and ease of use. They look really sweet, too! The performance-enhanced flat panel displays are initially destined for customers in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

The Dell UltraSharp 17-inch 1707FP and 19-inch 1907FP both offer the latest flat panel technology and are available now for £199 and £299, respectively. Both come with a 3-year warranty.

The UltraSharp flat panel displays are designed for professional graphic users, gaming enthusiasts and consumers or professionals wanting sharp text with vivid images, high screen performance and a stylish, slim design.

The new models offer improved panel specifications with 8ms response times and less smearing and ghosting than traditional flat panel displays, claims Dell.

Relatively high contrast ratios of 500:1 should result in improved colour clarity and uniformity, but viewing angles of 130/140 degrees (vertical/horizontal) and brightness of 300cd/m² are poor.

Also disappointing is a native resolution of 1280x1024 pixels (I thought these screens were for gamers? - Ed!). You do, however, get both analogue and DVI-D (Digital Video Interface) connectors and four USB 2.0 high-speed ports for hooking up external peripherals.
