Sony Laminating Dye-Sub Photo Printer

If you're interested in getting top notch prints from your digital camera and have $3000 to spare, you might be interested in this professional digital sublimation colour printer from Sony.

The UP-D75 is Sony Electronics’ latest digital dye sublimation 8x10-inch digital photo printer. The unit is designed to provide the necessary high image quality for the professional photography market.

The new model succeeds the UP-D70A printer, which won a Digital Imaging Marketing Association (DIMA) award at the Photo Marketing Association conference last year, taking top honours for image quality in the 8x10-inch and larger dye sublimation printer category.

Unlike other digital photo printers, the UP-D75 model uses a unique lamination process to create the Sony Pro Matte finish for professional, portrait-photo applications, using the same media print pack as its predecessor model for glossy and textured finishes.

The printer’s refined printing sequence and longer life print head, as compared to its predecessor, allows 8x10-inch, 300dpi photos to print in 80 seconds. In addition, Sony’s fingerprint and smudge proof media should produce long-lasting prints.

Other features of the UP-D75 printer include a high speed USB 2.0 interface and an integrated grey balance adjustment capability. The printer has a compact, sleek cubic design, enabling multiple units to be stacked upon each other for operational efficiency, and front end operation for ease of use.

The Sony UP-D75 digital colour printer is available at authorized resellers nationwide with a suggested list price of $2995 (£2053).
