ASUS' Blistering Multimedia Gaming Monitor

ASUSTeK Computer (ASUS) today announced the PG191 LCD monitor, which sports an innovative Super Bass System and speedy 2ms response time to deliver the audio and video performance demanded by hardcore gamers.

Gaming in the 21st is more than just entertainment. It’s a fully immersive experience. Hardcore players demand the best system setup, and it’s not just about computer hardware performance but also the coolest looking case, mouse, keyboard and of course display. The PG191 promises exactly this type of gaming solution.

Rife with unique industrial designs, the black-and-silver PG191 comes with a sleek aluminium alloy neck and circular base and piano-black panel frame, making it a stylish piece of décor for any environment. Specially designed for gamers, the display takes inspiration from stealth planes and tank cannons to put you in the atmosphere of the latest FPS shooters.

The top-of-the-range PG191 integrates a 2.1-channel speaker system (two 10-Watt speakers and 15-Watt super bass system) to deliver an exhilarating audio experience when battling in the virtual world. Complemented by SRS Lab’s Flagship TruSurround XT audio technology, the display supports the latest game 5.1-and 6.1 channel sound effects.

In the past, watching TV on monitors is like watching frame-by-frame slow motion replays. Are you sick of ghosting? Then look no further then the PG191. It incorporated TraceFree technology, which accelerates response time to 2ms to enable smooth video quality whether it is sport matches, 3D gaming or films.

The built-in 1.3-Megapixel Web camera, along with the headphone and mic jacks offer a total interactive solution for online gaming. Battle online and strategise with teammates through video conferencing. The bundled LifeFrame video communication software lets users take snapshots and record video in game with ease.

The PG191 offers hot keys to activate its special audio and video modes. Select the right mode to optimise your listening and viewing experience. There are five audio modes: Standard, First-Person Shooter Games, RPG Games, Theatre and Music, as well as five ‘Splendid’ image enhancement modes: Standard, Scenery, Night View, Theatre and Gaming.

Splendid detects exactly what’s on the screen and automatically optimises image quality for the best visual results. Besides the five modes (Standard, Game, Theater, Scenery and Night) mentioned above the innovative technology also enables users to select three skin tone options for the most realistic representation available.

Technical specifications of the monitor include a native resolution of 1280x1024 pixels, 800:1 contrast ratio and 320cd/m2 brightness. It also has three USB 2.0 ports and supports both DVI-D and D-SUB inputs.
