Konica Minolta Printing Solutions has launched its new, high-performance A3+ magicolor 7450 colour laser printer, available immediately.

With an end user price of £2395 excluding VAT, the magicolor 7450 is a powerful and versatile office printer, capable of printing in either colour or mono at 13 pages per minute A3+ and 25ppm A4. The printer is designed to fit into any business, corporate or design environment.

Its high-throughput processing capabilities, outstanding print quality and versatile media handling make the magicolor 7450 ideal for the enterprise and creative workplace. Built for high-volume applications and output, the magicolor 7450 is well-suited for printing a broad range of business and marketing materials on demand.

Designers and graphics application users will appreciate the exceptional print quality and sophisticated colour reproduction technology of the magicolor 7450. It offers a unique 600 x 600 4-bit dpi contone resolution which produces high detail and accurately graduated photographic images.

A process called "pulse width modulation" is used to produce smooth colour and greyscale graduations with fine detail and halftones. Object segmentation technology guarantees that text and images are printed at optimal quality and the advanced colour matching system includes PANTONE tables for complete colour control.

The Konica Minolta advanced calibration system - enhanced Automatic Image Density Control (eAIDC) - means that users have consistency in colour in every print throughout the life of the toner cartridge. Simitri(tm), Konica Minolta's next generation polymerised toner, allows high-quality images to be printed economically at great precision on a wide range of media. This specifically formulated toner yields more vibrant, durable prints with crisp text and lifelike images making it ideal for pre-press proofing where colour accuracy is particularly important.

Its ability to handle a broad selection of media types makes the magicolor 7450 the perfect printing solution for creating marketing and business materials in-house. It's ideal for the production of reports, leaflets, brochures, banners (up to 1200 mm) and posters. An automatic duplexer and banner tray are available as options, providing enormous flexibility in printing on professional materials from A4 to A3+ in heavy stock up to 256 g/m2. The standard 350-sheet paper capacity can be increased by adding up to three additional 500 sheet paper trays, providing a massive total capacity of 1850 sheets.

Delivering print speeds of 25 A4 pages per minute and a duty cycle of 120,000 pages per month, the magicolor 7450 is the ultimate departmental workhorse. With a 733 MHz processor and a standard 256 MB of memory (expandable up to 1GB), the magicolor 7450 delivers its first page out in 9.5 seconds in monochrome and 11.5 seconds in colour. The fast gigabit (1000/BaseT) Ethernet connection, USB 2.0 and parallel interfaces supply fast printing to the entire network.

Konica Minolta's renowned Emperon technology provides ultimate compatibility with major printing languages (PostScript 3, PCL 5e/c and PCL-XL 2.1), operating systems (Windows, Mac and Linux), applications (SAP, Quark, Citrix Metaframe) as well as PDF and JPEG/TIFF Direct print emulation for quick document processing from design, publishing and business applications.

Important information - such as real time supply status and troubleshooting details - can be monitored from virtually anywhere using a web browser. Additional plug-ins are available for HP Openview, IBM Tivoli NetView, CA Unicenter, and Microsoft Management Console.

The magicolor 7450 is equipped with PictBridge functionality, which enables users to print photos directly from their PictBridge-compliant digital cameras. Photos can be printed and rotated directly from the camera and adapted to the print format. Another option is to print an overview of all photos in thumbnail format from the camera's memory.

The PowerPack is included with the purchase of the magicolor 7450. The first programme of its kind, it provides unprecedented added value by offering a full range of complementary services to enhance user's printing experience. Customers can benefit from up to three years warranty, guaranteed return value on a replacement printer, discount on bundled options and free training and software.

The magicolor 7450 is supplied ready to use, including a pre-installed set of consumables. The toner cartridges for black, cyan, magenta and yellow can be replaced individually with cartridges with a print capacity of 15,000 (black) or 12,000 pages (cyan, magenta and yellow). The printer has an on-site warranty of one year that can be expanded to a maximum of 5 years.
