TALLYGENICOM EASES ADMINISTRATOR HEADACHES WITH TGNET ADMIN

TallyGenicom, a leading provider of focused, responsive business printers, today launched a new tool that automatically maps out which printers are connected to a corporate network, easing administrative headaches and providing a clear picture of printer and consumable usage. TGNet Admin allows network administrators to remotely manage networked printers and minimise downtime.

“Managing computer equipment raises serious issues relating to total cost of ownership (TCO) within an organisation,” explains TallyGenicom Product Manager Richard Bright. “Costs can be significantly reduced by minimising downtime of equipment, better utilisation of devices, moving responsibility away from the user, reduced support staff involvement and reduced training needs. All of these are borne through using TGNet Admin.“

TGNet Admin capabilities include:
• discovery of printers on a corporate network
• monitoring of printer status
• grouping of printers based on user-defined groups
• virtual control panels to access and manage a printer remotely
• editing the configuration of multiple printers at one time simultaneously
• updating printer firmware on multiple printers at one time (Selected TG Printers only)
• updating TG printers’ network interface configuration

TGNet Admin provides a single point for full management of an organisation’s printers. Simultaneous visual access to the entire printer fleet allows administrators to respond to printer ‘events’ such as paper out, toner low or fault reporting in real time. In addition, auditing is far simpler with a single visual interface providing information on product type, location, serial number, asset number and network ID.

Through Printer Discovery, TGNet Admin searches IP addresses and finds all networked printers., The administrator can then decide which ones they want to be managed, and by whom. Access privileges and password protection can then be set up depending on the level of the user.

TGNet Admin frees up administrators’ time to concentrate on other tasks. “Printers with the ability to send SNMP traps can be set to trigger an alert in TGNet Admin if a printer runs out of paper or is in need of new toner,” added Bright. “Through a Virtual Control Panel the administrator can then control and fix the printer without being physically near it.“

Price and Availability

TGNet Admin is available now, free of charge to TallyGenicom customers.
