Innovation of the Month

Imagine sitting on your own sofa while enjoying the big screen, big sound experience of the cinema. Owning your own home entertainment system may no longer be a luxury for the rich. Epson's EMP-TWD1 is a projector combined with DVD player and speakers from JVC, in one stylish, compact solution. You simply plug in, insert your DVD, sit back and enjoy the show.

The innovative EMP-TWD1 has been designed to be easy to use and to ensure that you achieve high quality results quickly. The Auto Detect feature means that the EMP-TWD1 will automatically recognise the disc that you are using. When you insert a DVD your movie will be projected onto your screen, insert a CD and your music will play. You can even use the EMP-TWD1 to view your digital photos on the big screen.

If you want to change your settings, a front control panel and remote control should help you to get the picture you want. If you intend to use the EMP-TWD1 in a dark room, the remote control will illuminate, so you don't even need to leave your seat to switch on the light. The Epson Cinema Filter should also help to ensure high quality image whatever the ambience of your room. For instance, you can view a bright image in a light room and optimum contrast in a dark room. The Epson cinema filter also promises to faithfully reproduce a wide range of colours.

As an integrated home entertainment solution, the EMP-TWD1 won't add a nest of wires to your home. All you need is a power cable to watch your favourite films. And if you want to enjoy TV, or play computer games on a super size screen, the EMP-TWD1 offers a relatively wide choice of connectivity options. You can simply connect your device using one of the many compatible input sources and enjoy the big screen experience. The lens shift both up, down, left and right, helping you to move your screen to the perfect position. When not in use, you can simply pack it up to be neatly stored away.

You can achieve a 60-inch screen size when the EMP-TWD1 is just 1.5 metres away, according to Epson, which is great for smaller rooms. Other technical features include a brightness of 1200 ANSI lumens, contrast ratio of 1000:1, True 16:9 aspect ratio and 480p resolution, optical zoom (ratio of 1.5), the ability to move projection 50 per cent up and down and 25 per cent left and right, and quiet operation with 29db (low brightness mode). Discs supported include DVD video, CD-R/RW, Super Video CD, MP3, ID3 TAG, WMA, JPEG, DVD-R/RW, Audio CD and DVD Audio.
